Highlights The article describes a clinical case of patient with metastatic breast cancer detected after aortic valve replacement. was initially treated as sternal osteomyelitis due to ministernotomy performed during surgery. However, the diagnosis and spinal (third thoracic vertebra) metastatses, ribs lesion established upon further study. Minimally invasive aortic valve replacement under thoracic epidural anesthesia in a conscious patient: case report.

Cardiopulmonary bypass and full median sternotomy have been recognized as major morbidity factors in cardiac surgery. Additional morbidity factors are general anesthesia and endotracheal intubation. Over the past several years high-thoracic epidural anesthesia (hTEA) has emerged as a potentially beneficial supplement to general anesthesia in the care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Minimally invasive transaortic mitral valve repair during aortic valve replacement.

Herein, we report the case of a 77-year-old man who presented with congestive heart failure. Echocardiography and cardiac catheterization revealed severe aortic stenosis with severe mitral regurgitation and a left ventricular ejection fraction of 0.20. Because of comorbidities, the patient was considered to be at high risk for double-valve surgery. In order to reduce the operative risk, a minim...

hemolytic anemia after aortic valve replacement: a case report

hemolytic anemia is exceedingly rare and an underestimated complication after aortic valve replacement (avr).the mechanism responsible for hemolysis most commonly involves a regurgitated flow or jet that related to paravalvar leak or turbulence of subvalvar stenosis. it appears to be independent of its severity as assessed by echocardiography. we present a case of a 24-year-old man with a histo...
